I know that I want to get the last drop of productivity out of a machine before carrying out replacement of parts, drives etc but it's just false economy in the end..
A few weeks ago I felt the machine wasn't collecting wet grass as it should. Cleaned the plastic box, still not right, thought must be my perception. Then I noticed the lofted end of the blades were realy worn. New blade, perfect again.
But as I said sometimes it just doesn't register, perhaps it's an age thing.
I jet washed the bag from my Hayter 56pro the other day after reading this. Wow! Collects fantastically again. Its amazing how we forget how good the machines were in the first place
Tweaked the governor spring plenty of times in my time however it does shorten the life of the mower if you go OTT!
I fancy getting one for my lawnflite and I presume the same blade will fit
It's a heavy blade though and takes a second longer to get up to speed. I'm sure the mower won't last as long but it's all about having an easier Job!
Most mowers are governed below optimum speed to comply with noise regs. A lot of B&S engines simply fitted a little plastic clip that you could remove. Most Hondas operate below peak torque. It's worth upping the revs & it makes cutting much faster.
