I need to get supplies please help!

Hi all,

Just a quick one i dont know if any of you can help, I am currently run a small Landscaping firm in Staffordshire.

We use a lot of paving and fencing products. So now i want to expand and start to produce my own concrete products to use in my own projects and also to sell from our store.

We currently make small items such as ornaments and bird baths, We have had good success with this. We have done some posts and gravel boards and the quality we are achieving is very good but i'm suck with one main thing!! SUPPLY OF MATERIALS!

To make this work on a bigger scale i need to source bulk raw materials such as sand and cement. Does anyone know of decent suppliers.

Thanks

  • I'm in somerset so don't know suppliers in your area. But when I want material in bulk I go direct to my local quarry, the cost saving was great as I managed to cut out the middle man. I was ordering 600t of stone! I'm sure with a little research you should be able to find a supplier for bulk cement too

  • you really need a vibrating table for the boards and posts also steel reinforcing in them

as benedict has said the quarry for a wagon load of sand and for cement if you really use a lot a silo and a tanker full from the manufacture's otherwise a trade account at the local builders merchant and buy it by the pallet full for a decent discount

  • Thanks for that, I wagon full is a little out of my budget at the moment.
I will go down the quarry and have a chat with them
I already use a vibrating table for all my concrete products
    • A wagon load of sand is not a lot mate. Big saving on bulk bags.

      • Any idea on the costs?
        • PRO
About £32-34 a tonne here sharp or soft
  • I forgot to add paper bags of cement are cheaper than plastic but you need to store them in a dry place

    • any decent building supplier will do you a pallet load of dust at a much cheaper rate, especially if they know it will be ongoing.
