HSE bulletin: Non-Standard Flail Strimmer/Brush Cutter Attachments

Acacia have just found an HSE bulletin about turning a nylon or blade head of brush cutters and strimmers into a flail cutter by attaching chains to the parts where the blades go.

It advises any non-standard cutting attachments should not be used as operators and those in the vicinity can be injured badly. Non-standard attachments are not permitted as the attachment has high power going through it and the stress and impacts can cause the multi-piece chains to fly apart. With no safety guard designed to protect from chains, injury is commonplace.
