Hi Laara
We are spiky plant people.
Hardy Agave, no such thing. Though, surpisingly, A. americana Variegata appears hardier then the true green form.
Probably your best bet is to go for Yucca filimentosa based on the light levels.
Hope that this is of help.

what about liriope evergreen giant? not spiky but it is strappy - spikey purple flower -
Hi,
If the site is not suitable for live agaves how about steel agaves - they withstand frost, don't need sun and last a lifetime! We make these in any size and can offer them for a window box. Just a thought, it would give your clients the sculptural beauty of agaves without disappointment.

Agave in a window box - wrong plant in the wrong place. Agree with Yukka being a far better choice, cheaper solutions young flax/phormiums would produce a similar effect.
Like the sculpture ironvien.
Loving the Ironvein's hardy agaves too....
For other possible alternatives for windowbox spikey effects, what about Libertia grandiflora or Astelia banksii - both would probably prefer more light, but might get away with it (T&S?!)
