I've not even bothered trying to mulch since April its just been too wet and too quick to grow. If this heatwave lasts I might be mulching again.
yes ive found to be on the safe side best to cut it around tea time when its had a chance to dry out...also depending on the amount of growth sometimes you just have to mulch cut a bit longer or more often or it inevitably leaves a lot of mess
Do they have sprinklers/irrigation? If not then you will need to raise the height of the mow if this hot weather continues as short lawns can dry up and go brown very quickly in drought.
So basically he charged top whack to cut the grass. I doubt he had bigger unless access is good. Probably only used a Honda roller or similar.
I have seen a couple of guys in the area who are lawn cut pros and their work is actually shocking and the amount of customer turnover they have....
Why did the client want to change??
When it's been like this. You either double cut to mulch or just collect.
Probably to save time and money (in disposal costs) due to not collecting?
Few of the larger ride on bits I do were like straw today. Side discharged out lovely nothing visible on top. If only it could always be like that.
The guy before did have a Honda roller. We don't have a big roller mower as the Etesia's we use usually cope with the variety of lawns we have, regardless of the weather. This is a long standing hourly rate client for us but he has always had the lawns cut by this other guy who did them before we started.
I put our prices up in April and the client agreed to the increase if we took over cutting the grass. The lawn takes 1 hr 20 mins with our mulcher which is about the same time it took the other guy with his Honda but he was collecting. So double cut is out of the question.
I gather from the replies so far that others are in the same boat when it comes to mulching then? I just wondered if it was our mulcher not mulching very well?
