yes sounds a bit extreme harry...some people maybe not so good with the niceties in emails... they may be lovely when you actually meet them. for example I have a client who regularly sends very short terse texts asking for work to be done. this is simply because he is very busy. best regards, billybop
well if you have loads of work on, then its not a problem to screen the "rude" ones out at the first hurdle... i definitely prefer working for the nice polite people myself lol
I had this very conversation with a mate last week Harry.
He'd paved around a swimming pool for a client. The client didn't live at the property full time but always emailed after a visit.
My mate said that his client never started with Dear or Hi and never signed off with sincerely, faithfully of regards.
I don't think you're being too picky. You need to feel comfortable with who you're with. It needs to be mutually beneficial.
Having said the that, I often worked for very rich clients that never flinched when a bill was presented to them. Some of them never said please or thank you and were at times quite abrupt.
Maybe it's only worth being peeved if said client doesn't pay or keeps you waiting an unacceptable time before paying?
My email sig is automatic for both mobile device and macbook<br />

I actually couldnt care for my regulars as I know we are all busy. But for a new client it's nice to have something polite signed off at the end. But some people don't do the whole emails reguarly so might not realise
I'm always polite in emails, and I don't mind if the client isn't, as at least they aren't calling me, as I'm not a big fan of talking on the phone :P
There is an email etequette that I try and observe, but many either don't know it or choose not to bother. Either way I wouldn't fret too much, but keep your own correspondence professional and legible. It's a good lesson tho, that you have made an opinion of this particular client, equally a client can make judgements about you by the way you communicate, which may make a difference whether you win a job or not. Every little helps, as they say.
I do find it annoying when people (I've had other companies email me like it) use block capitals. Literally the whole email is in capitals, always imagine them shouting it :)
