Worth checking out the archive, search results here:

Try Sketchup Make (free version) and try for yourself. You will probably then move on to Sketchup Pro when you need it for drawing production etc.
Sketchup software is most cost effective, easy to use and versatile in my opinion - plus loads of tutorials on You Tube. See also Sketchup forum on LJN.
I use the free version of Sketchup - I agree with Mike that it's worth downloading this and using it, then getting Pro if you need it. I haven't tried Pro so I can't comment on it. Vectorworks is the standard all-in software but costs more.
Please try it it. Sketchup is simple to use for all aspects of garden design, including curves and circles. Wins hands down on presentation and speed over pen and paper - would never go back to using them.
I had a look and its 2d looks lovely.
Heard good things about sketchup too. Don't know much about it though. Does it have ready drawn object libraries for things such as trees and plants and furniture etc?
