Cheap two stroke oil is a false economy - it produces lots of smoke and carbon build up that can damage the engine.

We have used various brands over the years and now use Stihl HP Super in all two stroke equipment with good results. Some other brands we have used produced a dense 'fog' in certain atmospheric conditions that really got 'on your lungs' when hedge cutting all day.

Agree with Adam don't buy cheap oil it's rubbish!
I use stihl green probably the same as Adam actually.
I buy it from world if power online £25 for 5 litres. Which does 50, 5 litre mixes
  • NEVER buy cheap two stroke oil. Its the only thing in a two stroke engine stopping it siezing or wearing out. I use the top of the range fully synthetic husqvarner oil at about £25 a litre. It lasts me half a season of all day lawn work.
A guy i know used the cheap red shite from the local garage. His strimmer could gas badgers and only last a season or two. Mine is going strong after four seasons

In my Hedgecutters I use Aspen fuel, but in all my other 2 stroke machines I use Stihl HP super, cheers Harry

I will add the main reason i changed to the green oil was the smoke the red produced.
Older machines are ok on mineral oil but the new stuff really needs synthetic.
