The last few days I saw Petrol and Diesel was the same in my local area at 115.9 a litre. The wholesale cost of diesel has been lower for sometime and its finally been reflected in the pump prices. Basically we were subsidising the cost of petrol for car owners.
Diesel cheaper than petrol after supermarkets cut prices

One of the reasons I switched our entire fleet - 5 vans at that time - to diesel in the early 90's was because of 1. diesel was cheaper and 2. the diesel engine was considered more economical.
Just picked up on a BBC tweet and clicked thru to their Fuel Price comparison calculator
Interesting stats as it compares the cost of fuel across countries and shows tax breakdown etc. For the details I put in, it costs ~£95 to fill up one of our vans with diesel. Without UK fuel tax, it would only cost £32.80
Makes you want to cry....
The graph is depressing as well.
Venezuela: wow!
That's interesting.
I've just returned from Italy.
Diesel there is c€1.49pl at self-service or c€1.79 if you use an attended pump (really surprised to see pump attendants, even on the motorway service stations).
Here in France it's c€1.25pl at the moment.
Seems to have shot back the other way this morning round here but caused some confusion yesterday!
A BP was 119.9 for Diesel and 117.9 petrol
Asda down the road was 112.9 Diesel and 114.9 for petrol
