Fuel not getting through , Viking 248

Today was a bit of a disaster !!!

On my biggest non ride on lawn,( normally 2 hours 20, but 4 hours today ) which is stuffed with Moss but customer wont do anything about it thinking must ring and order new Weibang. Carried on and into orchard where there was so much growth I was having to spread rather than bag with my Mountfield sp 505 when I came to a grinding halt. On investigation, drive shaft had manged to chew it's way into side plate where the drive cogs are mounted and then sheared off !!!

Let customer know and also the last one of the day that would be back Monday now. Hope to persuade Weibang dealer to lend me his whilst he gets me a new one, Legacy 48 pro BBC, could't talk to him today as away and his mechanic wouldn't make that call.

Got home to fire up the spare Viking and cant get it to go for love nor money. It will run with the old trick of thimble fuel of fuel down the air in take but that's it. Had filter off, fuel out and new in , checked it getting to carb but will not run, any ideas in case dealer wont play ball tomorrow, he will have Mountfield to mend if he goes for the loan suggestion ..

Carb problem, needs carb removed from top of tank and new diaphragm (795083). Clean carb fuel pick up stalks and any fuel out of tank. Fairly common problem when engines have been sat a while

  Fuel stabiliser is a waste of time in season unless you are not using it imo. End of season yes.

Someone I know had this problem and tried everything and finally someone add a filter on the fuel pipe as tiny bits of grass was getting in and know one knew why (stihl specialists) try this it should solve the problem.

  Had another go this afternoon and think the problem was in the bowl below the fuel float, cleaned it out and popped a pin in what i belief is the pipe to the carb. re assembled and away she went :-)

  Not suggesting it is time consuming or expensive. And it's a good idea over winter. But iffuel is running through the machine regularly it's pointless but that's just my opinion too!

    Strangely, never used fuel stabilizer and never have a problem..... even with machinery left for months over winter. One mower I use as a backup has had the same fuel in the tank for 4 years............. just start it every few months to check it still goes and it always does!!

      I've not used it either I did get some for my brother in law as he'd had a few issues over winter on his mower. I do use aspen in the polesaw as it only get used 4-5 times a year and it always works fine with it. All the other stuff seems to be ok
