I did my first lawn if the year last Monday. I stopped in Christmas week, so that makes it an 11 month mowing season!!!!!

It's going to be a loooonnngg season! Just as well I get the mowers serviced when I did!

I've had a couple of customers ask recently but I'm not overly keen to start yet as the ground is pretty wet and the weather could turn frosty any time. Is is not better to leave the grass a little long over winter and crack on in March? Better for the lawn I mean rather than our pockets! Ps I'm on the south coast and I own an Etesia so it's not that the mower couldn't handle it...

At the golf club where I did my training we cut grass pretty much all year. I agree if it's frosty or soggy avoid but keep the grass trim prevents tufts discolouration and meadows. But that's only my opinion

I don't think it's ever good to let grass get too long.
I think that you just need to cut that bit higher. Grass like being cut what I mean is all the gardens that I cut weekly are much healthier than the 2 weekly cuts.
It's been hovering around 13-14 degrees for the last week or more.
  • I wasn't intending to start mowing until March, but it's increasing looking like I will have to go around once soon and give everyone a cut. Maybe the weather will get more wintery again. Strange weather this year.

    • we did not take much grass off . it is even more important not to cut to hard this time of year but they where 3 or 4 inches long cut at 60 mm ground conditions here where good and the grass was dry

  • Started Jan last year about 4th day back after Christmas. Haven't stopped since
  • I cut my first lawn on Thursday. I started this week after my operation last year.

It was soggy and it ripped out some turf which I had to fix back. Need to get the grass seeds out.

On a positive note, my customer with the 5 lawns is looking OK because the lawns are not too long. So if I cut them every week and mulch it, happy days. But have not cut them. Will leave it for another week or two. Its so wet and squishy when walking on it.

Driving round I noticed two new competitors on my personal patch. But that's OK. I dont mind. Email is starting up again. I bet once the weather dries a bit more and the sun comes out it will get really busy.

Hi Daniela I'm due the op this month. Can you tell me what it's like after and how long before you were able to garden? Thanks
