Of course, it could be in better situations where people aren’t worried about what is coming next, have still got their jobs, and can actually buy toilet paper.

It is nonetheless an opportunity to be able to do the things that we have been meaning to do, to read the book that you’ve been wanting to read but haven’t had time for, or even simply sweeping the back patio after meaning to do it for months.
However, there appears a trend that websites are loosing popularity with some preferring to establish their online presence using social media - a mix of Twitter, FB, LI, Instagram etc.

A couple of articles I’ve recently read support this suggesting that websites are too static, too expensive (development, hosting, support/enhancements etc) versus social media that is dynamic in content, can instantly respond to opportunities, deploy new offerings by ‘pushing’ it out to prospective clients.

Its a fast moving world now and It’s certainly got me thinking....

Is an answer to just use websites as a point of reference now and drive business by SM or even have no website ( although I suggest that would not work for all )

They wanted me to put in 20m2 grey sandstone patio in a day, not a massive area bearing in mind prep work was to be done by someone else and in all likelihood probably not going to be done until at least late morning. I provisionally said ok even though im currently in the middle of a large contract, erring on the side of caution and expressing my concerns about it being done as quick as that, especially properly what with umpteen other people bustling about and inevitable delays and stoppages that could happen though I said I would be willing to to work on to the evening if need be with a couple of lights put up. I was also asked to provide some equipment that I shouldn't really need like a whacker plate (prepare was supposed to be done by someone else I was just to lay the stuff..) also I was asked to do a second general day building raised beds and gabion and whatnot, nothing actually spelled out what I was required to do specifically.

I turned it down when it came to money. They wanted me to do all this for a day rate that was less than my normal rate anyway plus I did have a laugh when they wanted me to put that patio in for the same.. what with all the potential for stuff going wrong. Unfortunately there is probably somebody out there who thinks it's a stepping stone to the big-time by getting on TV or just really wants to meet Dimmock! I think I'll stick to customers who actually pay properly.

Fact, Fiction & Weed Management - Amenity Forumhttps://landscapejuicenetwork.com/forum/topics/fact-fiction-weed-management-amenity-forum2018-06-06T07:27:00.000Z2018-06-06T07:27:00.000ZPhil Voicehttps://landscapejuicenetwork.com/profil/philvoice

"Speaking recently, Professor John Moverley, Independent Chairman of the Amenity Forum, linked such danger in the context of weed management. Best practice is founded on an integrated approach to weed management in amenity, ensuring correct cultural and design practices, making use of mechanical and biological control where appropriate and using approved and authorised chemicals. In keeping our amenity areas safe, clean and healthy – whether that’s on our streets, railways, sports surfaces, or parks – chemical control often provides the most economic and effective approach. The herbicides that are used go through extensive approval processes and are constantly monitored. Indeed the authorisation is far tougher and rigorous than for many other everyday products."

It pays really well but it's not for me in the long term.My back ground is greenkeeping and golf course construction. Which is where I was employed until redundancy at the end of the recession in 2010. So now I'm coming back. I have all the usual quals associated with greenkeeping, golf course construction. So now do I target my local area of north Somerset for garden maintenance or move into landscaping and update my qualifications to fit that as well.Any advice on the above would be brilliant.
How do I add a photo from an android phone?https://landscapejuicenetwork.com/forum/topics/how-do-i-add-a-photo-from-an-android-phone2018-01-08T14:18:30.000Z2018-01-08T14:18:30.000ZDarren Waltershttps://landscapejuicenetwork.com/profil/DarrenWalters
I have a Google pixelCheers, Darren
Forum post formattinghttps://landscapejuicenetwork.com/forum/topics/forum-post-formatting2018-01-06T15:19:07.000Z2018-01-06T15:19:07.000ZGary RKhttps://landscapejuicenetwork.com/profil/GaryRK

Just a reminder for those with iPhones who use them to post threads on LJN, you can now format your text, paragraphs, embed graphics and attach photos etc.

This opens up the ability to upload photos from your mobile device library or camera into an LJN thread. This also enables the multi function Text editing box while entering your post (ie as used on full browsers on PCs) and removes the annoying habit of HTML tags being left in posts if you re-edit it on a mobile device. A timely reminded from Mr Gadsby on another thread made me realise that most will not know about this feature (plus a hundred more features, options and fixes on iOS 11.xx)

To get access to the full function text editing box, is to simply tell Safari to request opening a website in Desktop site mode (see screen shot)

And MyGardenSchool has now grown quite a lot. We're trialling an initiative where we'd like to find 10 people who would be happy to learn together in one class - and really feel like they would benefit from being taught by some of the best experts in the world (Piet Oudolf, Michael Marriott from David Austin, Dr Noel Kingsbury, Annie Guilfoyle, Dr Toby Musgrave and others). I would like to offer a select group of Landscape Juice Members this opportunity to trial a course of their choice with us at www.learningwithexperts.com/gardening (you can take your pick from there). But you must meet the following criteria:

Be a practising (or aspiring) gardener, landscaper or designer (ideally not formally qualified)

Not have experienced MyGardenSchool before

Willing to share your experience socially and take photographs of your work

What you will get: This is an experiment, so we're keen to follow your progress of how you learn and interact as a group, and understand how you interact with your tutors.

You really will get feedback from Dr Noel Kingsbury personally (or the other tutors you choose to study with). If more than 10 people want to do this, we will split you into groups. However we won't make this happen unless there is interest from at least 10 of you (as it's the group dynamic we want to study). We will need you to pay something towards the course, but once we reach 10+ volunteers we are happy to reduce the price to 50% of our normal rate (eg for Annie Guilfoyle's urban design course, this is a reduction of several hundred pounds).

Dr Noel Kingsbury and Piet Oudolf are right behind this study (as are the others), and are also producing a new course about the Highline next year.

I thought I would post on here to gauge interest. Here is where you can choose your course selection (we are assuming that Piet and Noel, and the higher priced courses will be chosen, as you get £100s off, but that may not be the case. Please let me know (and happy to discuss on here) if this is of interest. Or you can email me privately on elspeth@learningwithexperts.com - but I will let people know on here when we reach a group of 10.

Finally once you've all studied together, we like the idea of introducing you in person. We are currently looking to do a small show garden at Chelsea Flower Show next year, and would like to involve some of this group in it.

Please post here if you'd like to take part and if we do get 10 of you interested we will start the experiment (I will write back to you with the codes to access classes).

Advertshttps://landscapejuicenetwork.com/forum/topics/adverts2017-06-07T21:49:21.000Z2017-06-07T21:49:21.000ZRichard Gadsbyhttps://landscapejuicenetwork.com/profil/RichardGadsby
Is it just me or are we being bombarded with advertisements now on ljn?
Starting my own businesshttps://landscapejuicenetwork.com/forum/topics/starting-my-own-business2017-05-19T02:40:17.000Z2017-05-19T02:40:17.000ZKingsley Powershttps://landscapejuicenetwork.com/profil/KingsleyPowers
Hi my name is Kingsley.I am 21 years old I was working in drainage/civil engineering/ flagging ground works, till around a year ago.
