if it only once in a blue moon it will be difficult but if you want someone for say 16 hrs per week all summer you might find someone but they are not likely to be skilled, when I took a college student on the season was in full swing before they were available and they could not hit the ground running and left when the hedge cutting was in full swing.
you could try getting more work so that you can employ someone full time for the summer but that is another dilemma if they leave mid summer (got the tee-shirt)
Oh the joys of employing!! I gave up with 'part time' staff many years back(apart from a summer student each year).
Part timers are part time for a reason. Often, it's so they can still claim their full benefits, but unfortunately they seldom worked at our pace. Others have 'parental commitments', meaning daily school run/collection, random days off and as for summer holidays......forget it! Then there are the guys who work for themselves, use you for a fill-in, then unsettle your full-timers, telling them stories of how a couple of weeks ago they earned £250 cash for a days work ........conveniently forgetting the reason they were working for you in the first place!
HOWEVER, there are good guys out there and they are worth their weight in gold. Good luck!
Hi
Have you considered trying your local agency? Some of my best people have come from ours.
