Also it only states 'Grass should not be cut for 3 days before and at least 4 days after treatment.' I have applied granular frets the same day or after a day. Sometimes the 3 and 4 day window isn't practical for me!!
This could be a clever marketing stance. Having just spent sometime looking at these products, it 'gives' the impression it can be applied instantly following mowing although you are right, hidden on label it does state the 3-4 day rule...mmmmhhhhh
Gary it's my belief it's not just down to scorch for the 3 day rule. When you cut the grass the plants tend to close up to protect themselves and the herbicides may not properly translocate through the plant as a result, so they advise that it is left until at least 3 days after mowing before you apply a herbicide. I may be wrong on this though, so hopefully one of our suppliers can help me out with this theory...

I tend to only apply granular straight after mowing when I know it's going to be dry for a few days. If it's wet/due to rain I will wait a little.
Really depends on the product, a coated fertiliser will usually take a lot longer to burn/scorch, though the more coating the more expensive.
Straight fertilisers you need the rain asap after application as long (as it's not torrential as they you may get puddles and that pulls the fert into spots where you may get a burn).
It's a bit of a pain as its double miles, but there are times I will do the weed and feed on separate visits.
Most liquid feeds can be applied on a wet day with no harm and some work even better applied on a wet day. I think the most important bit is wait until three days after treatment before mowing.
I switched over to Everris/Scotts products this year (FE free) and it's great not having to worry about staining ect.

I think its in the coating that allows it to sit there for a few days before starting to release the fert/herb
