If you are a professional person buying aluminium phosphide such as Talunex and Phostoxin for the control of moles, rabbits or rats it is highly likely that you will be affected by the new legislation.
After 26th November 2015 you will no longer be able to use Phostoxin and Tallunex legally without having the new accredited City and Guilds level 2 certificate of competence or an equivalent qualification that is provided by an Ofqual regulated awarding body .
If you currently hold a certificate you can continue to use the product until 26th November 2015, but after this date must hold the new accredited qualifications and also register as a member of RAMPS (The Register of Accredited Metallic Phosphide Standards in the UK).
This legislation changes affects all professionals including pest controllers, farmers, gamekeepers, amenities manager, small holders and anyone else having a professional need for the product. Users must also continue to sign the completed poisons register on every occasion they make the purchase. RAMPS are currently advising aluminium phosphide users not to wait until the last moment to become qualified as they believe there will be large demand for re-registration.
If you need more information on the changes or are interested in gaining the appropriate qualifications Progreen are currently running a number of one day City & Guild courses with the first Training day being Monday 7th July 2015.
The cost for the course is £125 + VAT (this includes lunch and refreshments. Assessments are held and invoiced separately) For more information visit http://www.progreen.co.uk/Pesticide-training/Safe-Use-of-Aluminium-Phosphide/Safe-Use-of-Aluminium-Phosphide-7-Jul14-/prod_761.html or contact Rachel on 0800 032 6262 or email info@progreen.co.uk
