Cordless/battery powered strummer

Hi, anyone recommend a good mid range cordless strimmer please?  I need one that will do gentle work from grass paths, to tougher work such as a bit of bramble, nettles, woody stuff such as burdock and dock. I don't want something so powerful I need to "kit up" in steel-toes, ear muffs etc!  It is for my own private plot where I grow flowers for cutting/selling, not for other people's property. And something not too heavy. Your thoughts would be much appreciated. Thanks.

      • That's helpful thanks. What about preferred brands anyone? And I'm particularly interested to know if any have better battery life than others (i.e. hold their charge for longer/more powerfully).  Just a few particular models for me to take a look at in shop would be a great help. Thanks again Billybop.

        • cheers julia in terms of the 36v cordless strimmers i have only really used the Stihl ones, but there's a lot of brands available these days, a good place to start would be reading some reviews on various models on amazon, some of the higher end you won't find on there but will give you some ideas about what to look for maybe  www.amazon.co.uk/s/ref=nb_sb_noss_1?url=search-alias%3Daps&fiel...

        • I've recently invested in the whole range of EGO Cordless and I'm very impressed !! 56 volt and powerful and light !! this is the strimmer i bought

            • Hi, just wondered why you have opted for the Bosch hedge cutter and you use stihl strimmer? Cheers

                • Thanks for the reply. So which do you prefer?
  • Hi Julia. I bought a complete set of the Stihl Lithium Ion gear at the start of the season to compare and contrast with the petrol Stihl Kombi range most of our teams use. Quieter, lighter, no fuel issues and with the knapsack battery more than a full day's use available. Downside: the strimmer is less effective than the petrol on heavy, thicker stuff but with the brush cutter blade it is more evenly balanced and works really well. Not sure of current prices, but with the charger, single battery and brush cutter/strimmer it won't be a cheap solution, but very effective.

  • Black and Decker cordless. Has two speeds. Light enough.
