Commercial maintenance pricing?

Hi everyone!Could I pick all of your brains please? I'm a fairly new business only started September last year.. I'v been contacted by a business on an industrial estate wanting me to give them a quote on grounds maintenance. They have asked for it to be maintained on a monthly basis.I would just like to ask how you all go about working out rates/prices on such a vast area??Many thanksNick :)

Define vast area..... We do several businesses with several acre of grass and gravel on their sites.

Commercial maintenance is a bit of a different ball game to domestic, in general don't expect to receive payment until at least 30-90 days from invoice.

Do you fit the sites requirements in terms of insurance level cover and qualifications such as spraying certificates etc. Expect to be asked for risk assessments and method statements too.

If the site has any grassed areas, on a monthly cut rota they will be hard work too through parts of the year.
  • As Adam has mentioned, 'monthly' will be a real chore. I would ask for a site meet up, to see what standard they expect, unfortunately too many don't feel that nice tidy well maintained surroundings add anything to their business, other than expense. If this is the case, this is where you need to try and 'sell' a programme that suits both the customer and yourself.

Remember that your work is your advertisement - if it meant being associated with a messy site, I'd not get involved.
