I'd agree at not bothering to clean it. When I grease them I wire brush around the nuts so as to not accidentally push any dirt in. If you really want to make them spotless all the time I'd try wonder wipes.
Traffic film remover, is great for getting machines back to new. Good for pvc too....
Thanks John and Robbie. I bought it new a few weeks ago and would like to keep it looking nice. I am doing regular oil changes and check it over. It's got to last.
This. Make sure you run it up after washing or the clutch will seize. Been there, done that. As much as I appreciate my guys taking pride in their tools I've had to ask them to stop cleaning the strimmers- they get filthy again in five minutes use anyway!
Curiosity got the better of me... Wonder wipes get all the dried on grass (my strimmer is a kombi strimmer from 2007) off perfectly well.
