Chelsea - emerging themes?

Not having made it down South to the apex of all that is gardening.... just wondered what themes people have noticed at this year's flower show? Are alliums still popular? What about vertical gardening?? Will we see a new wave in cement??? Any thoughts?

  • I can just see where this thread is heading! :-)
  • not sure about job cuts but there garden was very good
  • Back from a second visit to Chelsea. I went on Sunday before it opened and it was good to see it 4 days on.
Everyone spoke of having a good show. Adam Frost was upset with his Silver which I can't understand either. He deserved a better medal. Mark Gregory was delighted with his Gold. I had tea with Cleve West.Such a nice guy and we discussed the show. Lisa on Quecus was getting so much business and was very happy.

As for vertical walls as previously mentioned they are very popular and so was Angelica. It was everywhere. Low key planting ,no loud colours, still lots of green and paving. As always the small gardens are very popular and more in keeping with the public view of real gardens.
  • now you have made me really wish i was there claudia bugger LOL
  • red coats more than dresses.., it was cold the first few days

    Here are a few images!

The gardens were greener, more structured and more subdued in many respects.

I think also, some of the gardens reflected an underlying theme of lower maintenance!
