I'm getting to be a grumpy old git! I too have been swamped by people telling me to 'wrap up next week it's going to be cold'. It's just weather, it's November. Anyway the days get longer in 4 1/2 weeks, so winter's nearly over!
Sometimes though, even temperate regions are hit by non-typical weather: http://www.theguardian.com/world/2013/nov/19/sardinia-deadly-storms

I serisouly dont know how we cope with such hardships, Might donate another few £ to the philipinese - infact everytime someone says "what are you going to do when the snow comes" rather than stare blankly- ill donate a £1
But David, what are you going to do when the snow comes?
well said Mick, Alexandra, Colin, Phil & David
a guy i've done some work for is in the gambling business - his company used to have a department that would calculate the odds of anything that someone might bet on - so they did weather - they worked out that if you said 'tomorrows weather will be the same as today', then you would have been right slightly more often than the met office
