Nice brand new chain for the saw and a decent blade for circ.
A mill.
Really need more information, how thick are the sleepers? How neat must the finish be? How much are you cutting off at a time?
We use handsaws for the best finish on site.
I've always wondered about these as they seem a predictable way of cutting square ?
Otherwise a set square, good chain saw and a good 'eye' :)
I have one of these Gary, the very model in fact. You get a good square cut but sod lifting a sleeper onto it!
I was in your position a few weeks ago. Luckily I didn't have many cuts to do. After looking at several power tools I thought it was best to use a handsaw for a good finish and it really paid off. I pencilled the line around the sleeper and cut carefully. It wasn't as bad as I thought it might be. I was cutting new softwood though.
Was thinking about getting a corded circular saw?
