For me the main thing is that I don't get to know anything about the person behind the service and ultimately who I'm handing my money over to.
I think transparency and openness are important things to consider on the web as you are asking people to make decisions in a more detached manner and if you can close the gap all well and good.
As for the techie side of things take a look over Google's SEO Starter Guide.
For example, a quick techie point is if you can give your actual files descriptive names instead of just 2.html or 3.html this will help search.
Remember unless you are really well know people won't be searching on your company name just yet, more generic location based searches are likely, so try and think of the phrases people might use and have these in your copy.
All the best

I would personally not worry too much about your background image.
If I were a potential client landing on your site I would like to read how you overcame certain challenges during a build to give a client what they need.
I agree too with Pro Gard about prices - the visual effect of the blog/website should stimulate the buyers interest first and foremost. Once you have a connection and visited the garden then start talking prices.
My experience tells me that if you publish a range of prices then potential clients tend to want to be buyers at the lower end of the scale.
Hope this helps.
