sat here slightly puzzled!

last year my car which has business insurance including social domestic and pleasure insurance. With my partner on as learner insurance was around £700.00. No claims 1 year on this policy, 4 years on another policy, price £700.00

This year with my partner not on the insurance at all, 2 years no claims its gone up to around £1,000?!! no points or accidents, no changes to the policy. I understand that policies may go up if there is an increase in accidents but surely thats a bit much? it usually goes down every year.

Shopped around and they are all around the same price, i never go for the cheapest, i go for a company i recognise etc!

Seems mega high! You driving a cosworth! My van with two employees on it and 1 year no claims is £350. Other van with one employee on is £270.

To be fair I'm only 22 :) it's a 2.0 Saab. Funny though how my van insurance is around 500!

Put your partner back on its probably cheaper. Insurance companies like to see people in settled relationships. Lowers your risk profile.
That come from my dads best mate who was high up in Zurich insurance before he retired

could be wrong, but think I read somewhere that a new tax/percentage has been added to insurance premiums across the board this year, not just vehicles, but pets, house, tool etc, but do shop around, you can get it cheaper mate...
  • my renewal came through about £300 did a search on one of the compare insurance  sites and the same insurance co was cheaper and about 4th down the list so I rang them they did a check and came back with a better quote than that online I saved myself about £70

  • sometimes good to go through a cashback site as well, you can get a rebate of up to around £60 this way, although it can take months to receive it, mine came in at just over £100 for commercial vehicle insurance this year once this is taken into account...it is also worth looking at your job description, could be mistaken but i think Gardener may attract a lower premium than Landscaper as statistically the building type trades have more smashes

  • Also try a few brokers. I went through one at renewal date and so glad I did. Cheaper than the compare websites. A-plan worked for me.

Insurances are going up, I have never seen one go down. It also depends where you live. My area has a premium on it due to all the uninsured, unlicensed %$£&|* driving here.
