Hi Nick - Yes they are but only a rowing boat!! Im building some decking from a small building on the bank and then dropping down with some steps to a jetty/walkway. I was hoping there was some special sort of timber treatments for piles to go in the river bed. (Thats wooden Piles by the way lol)

Thanks Nick for the advice and pic! The house is a bit like a Chateaux and I think he would prefer timber for cosmetic reasons but I will certainly suggest your idea!!
I take it the timber deck has holes in it to fit around scaffold poles so it can lift up and down?
That sounds great Nick - Love to see some pics if you have any? did you use standard decking timber or extra treated?
Hi Simon, sounds a lovely little project andwould go with the scaffold solution.
Out of interest do they need planning permission or Environment Agency approval? We're on the river and need EA approval to do anything with the bank.
Many thanks for your advice nick and will def post some pics!
Hi Andrew - Im not sure about EA approval but will be seeking some advice! He owns a large part of the river which runs through his grounds so not sure what difference that makes.
Heres a pick from the other side of the river which he owns also. The small building in the background on the bank is the building I will be taking decking from (approx 4 meters towards river bank and then the small jetty.
Im going to be adding a doorway to the building so they can step out on to the decking!
Lovely spot - must be great to work there.
We were looking at fixing some shuttering a few years back, plus changing the slipway shape slightly. Needed both local authority planning permission and EA permission. Didn't do it as too expensive. Our neighbour has a small jetty and has to pay the EA an annual licence fee.
