Accounting with Xero users

Hi guys. I'm using Xero in my gardening/landscaping business.  I am looking for an app that will work seamlessly with Xero so I can basically mark off when regular maintenance is complete and also note any extras chargable.  I want to then generate invoices, probably monthly.  Xero will obviously then check payment has been made....

I have looked at a vast number that appear to do this for trade type businesses but am overwhelmed by the number of them, also the cost appears to range from c£20-£80+ /pm!

There is just me to use it.

Does anyone have any experience they'd impart please?

Thanks

  • I can tell you Jobber will sync clients, services and invoices, but will not sync invoice payments.

Hi Scott, assuming you've tried and it doesn't work ?

I had always been lead to believe it sync'd all both ways on QBO & XERO  to Jobber...

      • I thought so too when I took out the trial - the devil is in the detail...

QB does sync payments, Xero does not.

I tried them both at the backend of last year, and asked Xero Support about the payments sync. They sent me a link to the Jobber help page for Xero.

        Look down at point 7

Note: Jobber does not sync payments with Xero

Good spot, Scott. The overview blurb implies it should. That's a pain. Naughty.

          • Shame really, quite liked Xero

Is what you're look for here: https://www.workflowmax.com/tv/using-workflowmax/topic/invoicing-an...

  • Hi Andy.

I can certainly tell you that this will really help with your admin, and making sure there's no income leakage.

The difficulty with these apps is doing the invoicing seemlessly. Phil seems to have found a good one, but Jobber looks the biz. You'll need to pay - think the cost of £30 would be worth the investment, especially if it's just you.

If not, there are cheap/free customisable data capture forms that output into Excel. These can be easily formatted to upload to Xero as invoices......only really works if you invoice in batch rather than after each job.

Probably worth paying for an off the shelf app - saves you loads of time.
